Cynthia Bankey Architect, Inc. focuses on design in the single + multi-family and small commercial markets. The goal of the firm is to provide high quality sustainable design – Smart*Cool©- to unique clients, balancing the practical and the artistic elements of buildings into a coherent vision. As an integral part of a long-range vision of building, elements of sustainable design are incorporated in each project, including low toxic materials and methods, water and energy conserving strategies, and emphasizing human friendly spaces and amenities without compromising the financial goals of our clients. The past seventeen years have brought the firm progressively from conceptual projects and minor residential remodels to larger built work. The deliberate rate of growth has allowed the firm to pursue design excellence, build a solid client base and form stable working relationships within the firm’s team of consultants.
Projects in Oregon and Tennessee include commercial scale passive solar greenhouses, Cascadia Commons Cohousing, Alpha Apartments and the Zenger Farm Master Plan, with the goal of providing uniquely aesthetic and ecological designs for living and working. Urban planning projects include the Portland Livable Cities Division Street Project, the North Downtown Vancouver Design Guidelines and work through the Storefront Improvement and Lighting Program of the Portland Development Commission.
